Blossoming Hangul: Kim Moon Tae

Join us for Blossoming Hangul, an exhibition of modern Korean calligraphy by Moon Tae Kim that explores the beauty and playful creativity of the Korean written language.

Drawing upon the lyrical lines of Hangul and its physiological resemblances, calligrapher Moon Ttae Kim uses a picturesque technique to make his calligraphy resemble both Hangul handwriting and drawings. Giving an innocent and humorous character to his Hangul calligraphy, Moon Tae Kim reflects Hangul’s adaptations to modern culture. Contemporary handwriting styles constitute a new genre of calligraphy and a means of communication for artists from around the world.

Don’t miss Moon Tae Kim’s live calligraphy demonstration of “Arirang” at the opening ceremony of the exhibition!

A free RSVP is required to attend the opening reception event (scroll down to RSVP).
