K-Cinema: The Sword with No Name
Moo-myoung (Seung-woo Cho) is a Joseon Dynasty bounty hunter at the top of his game. During a mission he encounters a beautiful noble lady, Ja-young (Soo Ae), and falls in love. Years later, Ja-young enters the royal palace as the next queen of Joseon. Moo-myoung's heart still aches, so he becomes the queen's personal guard. When she ascends to power as Korea's famed Empress Myeongseong, Ja-young tries to modernize the dynasty by allying with foreign nations but becomes embroiled in a political power struggle. Moo-myoung, ever her loyal defender, must fend off threats from all sides.
Directed by Yongkyun Kim (2009), The Sword with No Name (불꽃처럼 나비처럼) features a notable cast and is based loosely around actual historical events and characters near the end of the Joseon Dynasty in the late 19th century. Watch the theatrical trailer on AsianWiki.com.
