K-Cinema Screening and Social: Miracle in Cell No. 7 (October 10 & 24)

Six-year-old Ye-seung (Kal So-won) means the world to her adoring, mentally handicapped father. But when Yong-goo (Ryoo Seung-ryong) is wrongly convicted of a heinous crime, he becomes the newest and most unusual inmate in a high security prison. In return for saving the life of his cellmate So Yang-ho (Oh Dal-su), Yong-goo’s fellow inmates hatch an impossible plan to smuggle in his beloved daughter. Years later, Ye-seung (Park Shin-Hye) fights for her father’s innocence as a law student.

The heartwarming comedy Miracle in Cell No. 7, directed by Lee Hwan-kyung, was a major box office hit in 2013, becoming Korea’s 3rd highest grossing film. The film was especially praised for the performances of its famous ensemble cast, including Oh Dal-su, Kim Jung-Tae, Park Won-Sang, Jung Man-Sik, and Kim Ki-Chun.
