K-Cinema: Rockin' on Heaven's Door (March 14 & 26 @ 6:30 pm)

After an embarrassing late night scuffle, K-Pop superstar Chung-Ui (Lee Hong-ki) is ordered to complete 300 hours of community service in a hospice for the terminally ill. It all seems like a waste of his time, with smoking, drinking, oddball patients, until Chung-Ui notices the hospice band Phoenix. Even though they could die tomorrow (or perhaps because of it?) they pour their soul into the music. Chung-Ui starts to rediscovers his passion and humanity, but will his selfishness prevent him from completing his true mission at the hospice?

Directed by Nam Taek-soo, Rockin’ on Heaven’s Door (2013) casts real-life K-Pop star Lee Hong-ki in the lead alongside former MMA trainer Ma Dong-seok. A heartwarming comedy in the great Korean cinema tradition.

In Korean with English subtitles, 99 minutes.

Don't miss the Korean appetizer social at 6 pm!
