K-Cinema Screening & Social: The Himalayas (March 16 & 30)

Following a grueling climb up Kanchenjunga, Hong-gil (Hwang Jung-min) and Mu-taek (Jung Woo) become fast friends and partners. They reach the peak of their career s scaling the Himalayas, but at a price: both injured, and Hong-gil compelled to retire. Years later, Hong-gil is a renowned lecturer, as Mu-taek decides to conquer Everest. When Mu-taek goes missing, Hong-gil blames himself. He decides to put together a team to recover what he can from the doomed expedition. Despite warnings and his better judgement, Hong-gil sets out his most treacherous climb yet.

Based on a true story, director Lee Suk-hoon's 2015 adventure drama The Himalayas touched audiences with its themes of loyalty and overcoming adversity, also earning Ra Mi-Ran the Best Supporting Actress prize at the PaekSang Arts Awards. 

In Korean with English subtitles,124 minutes.
